As part of environmental remediation activities at the former Fort Ord military installation, daily construction reports documented the use of Gorilla-Snot—a copolymer emulsion manufactured by Soilworks—for dust control and soil stabilization across disturbed areas in Seaside Munitions Response Site (MRS) 2. The product was applied following clearing and grubbing operations to minimize airborne particulate emissions and maintain compliance with monitoring thresholds recorded by PDR (Particulate Data Recorder) dust sensors. Gorilla-Snot was selected to prevent off-site dust transport, especially near residential areas, and to support erosion control during sensitive scraping and unexploded ordnance (UXO) investigations.

Weston Site Supervisor (Charlie Smith) notified Mark Edwards (LFR) and Bruce More (Weston SUXOS). The utility pole is scheduled to be removed and relocated, therefore, permanent repair was not required. Ahtna installed a pole 8 feet into the ground immediately next to the broken pole, then bolted the two poles together to act as a brace. To prevent from occurring again, Weston will maintain a minimum 5- ft radius around utility poles. |
