The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) established dust palliative specifications for use on unpaved roads and airport runways, requiring long-term dust control solutions capable of withstanding harsh Arctic conditions. The selected palliatives must be non-soluble, non-corrosive, environmentally safe, and effective for at least two years.
