RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS

Question #1 – Does the county want a geo-textile to be placed beneath 1” Minus Gravel?

Response: – Section 423.6 of the project Special Provisions states, “Payment for placement of riprap and gravel shall include filter fabric [Geotextile]”. Therefore, geotextile fabric is required beneath all 1” minus gravel areas.

Question #2 – Will the use of a pre-emergent herbicide be required under areas where Rip-Rap, Reno Mattress & Gravel will placed?

Response: – Pre-emergent herbicide is required at all areas covered by decomposed granite, gravel, rip rap, and gabion mattresses.

Question #3 – Can a more direct specification be given in regards to the veneer finish, that is to go on the concrete flood wall on the Kofa HS Parking Lot, current special provision does not allow for an accurate estimate?

Response: – The finish of the concrete flood wall is subject to review and approval by the Yuma Union High School District. Finishes could range from painted concrete to custom form liners.

For the purposes of this bid, Contractors are directed to assume a painted concrete finish for the wall.

Coordination with and review and approval from the Yuma Union High School District is still required prior to construction of the flood wall.

Question #4 – Will the county reconsider “Yuma Gray” as an allowable color for the 1” minus landscape rock required for Smucker Basin?

Response: – Further clarifying the response to question #11 from Addendum #2, “Yuma Grey” will now be allowed as an acceptable color for the 1” minus landscape rock.

Question #5 – Can “Gorilla-Snot” by Soilworks be used as an approved alternate to use as a stabilizer for the decomposed granite areas?

Response: – In lieu of “Gorilla-Snot®”, “Soiltac®” by SoilWorks is allowed as an acceptable alternate to “Stabilizer”. See the Revisions to the Project Special Provisions Section 430.4.3 stated herein.

Question #6 – Sheet 48/Note 6 calls for the use of ASTM 5752 [sic] Gr.50 to be used for the “Bar Grate’, Can A36 material be used as an alternate to Gr.50, A36 is more economical and easier to obtain?

Response: – The Prefabricated Steel Grate for the junction structure may be fabricated to meet ASTM A36 requirements.
