Purpose:

Evaluate product for various proponent defined properties including Retained Coagulum, Ash Content, and Tensile Strength.

Product is described as a polymer product that serves to control dust, erosion and stabilize soil.

Test Methods:

Select physical properties were determined in accordance with CalTrans Standard Specification 18-1.02(B): Synthetic Polymer Emulsion Requirements. Specific properties examined include Retained Coagulum, Ash Content, and Tensile Strength.

Retained Coagulum was determinized in accordance with ASTM D1417-16: Standard Test Methods for Rubber Latices—Synthetic. Results are reported in units of (%)

Ash Content was determined in accordance with ASTM D5040-90(2016): Standard Test Methods for Ash Content of Adhesives. Results are reported in units of (%).

Tensile Strength was determined in accordance with ASTM D412-16: Standard Test Methods for Vulcanized Rubber and Thermoplastic Elastomers—Tension. Results are reported in units of (psi).
