Maui lifts restrictions for 3 burn zone areas, allowing residents to return to most properties

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Maui County announced Thursday three more disaster area restrictions will be lifted for owners and residents with vehicle passes starting this week.

 

 

On Monday, Oct. 23 and Tuesday, Oct. 24, the restrictions will be lifted from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Zone 13A, 13B and 13C.

Those zones consist of the following streets:

  • 13A: Shaw Street, Kauaula Road and Front Street (Lahaina Shores will remain closed due to structural safety concerns)
  • 13B: Shaw Street, Ilikahi Street, Alio Street, Kauaula Road, Kamano Place
  • 13C: Wainee Street, Kauaula Road, Shaw Street

Vehicle passes are needed to enter.

The county said 12 homes that were previously in Zone 12B have been rezoned to Zones 13A and 13B. Residents are advised to refer to the Zone map to check if their property’s zone has changed.

Officials say visiting hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
